The property
Gransjoeberget Skog is a property consisting of 3 200 hectares (about 12000 acres) of forest and wilderness in the eastern area of Elverum municipality. The farmstead is situated in the main body of the property. The property, well run through several generations, has spruce and pine forests, marshes, heathland, and bare hilltops above the treeline. The highest top, Gransjoeberget, is 700m above sea level.
The propery is administered from the picturesque home farm in Hernes, just outside Elverum. When the present owner bought that farm in 2000, it too was in very poor condition, and needed a complete programme of restoration. Restoration work on the main farmhouse here was completed in 2002, and and attention has now turned to the cowshed, stable and storehouse. There are no animals on the farm at present, but hay is sold to other pastoral farmers.
When restoration work is completed, we will be able to offer overnighting here at the home farm.
As you can understand, things are pretty busy, and because of this we have appointed a forestry engineer who, together with the owner, is responsible for the running of the whole estate.
